Meseta Purépecha

The Purépecha Plateau ( Meseta Purépecha ), also known as the Tarascan Plateau , is a region in the Mexican state of Michoacán .

The plateau , which begins at the southwestern foot of the transmexican volcanic belt , is irrigated by the Río Lerma and its tributaries. The Patzcuaro Lake , the Cuitzeo Lake and Zirahuen Lake lie in it.

The region is home to the eponymous indigenous people of the Purépecha . a. of Agriculture and Forestry devote. The main population centers in the region are Pátzcuaro , Cherán and Tzintzuntzan .
