When surveying or measuring assistant in is Geodesy a learned assistant called, mainly in the field is used. The main tasks are
- setting up the yardstick over the points to be recorded ( ground or boundary points , parts of buildings ...)
- searching for and possibly excavating the fixed points (ground marks, KT stones, etc.)
- and exploring for topographic surveys terrain details and sightings to finding the target with the theodolite to enable.
The surveying assistant is regionally also called a figurant , which alludes to the often nimble change of location between the measuring points in young assistants.
