Measuring point
A measuring point is generally referred to as a fixed or mobile structural facility at which a physical and / or chemical parameter can be recorded over a defined period of time in relation to a measuring point ( measurement ). An alternative spelling is Mess -stelle , to which the Duden is limited.
Delimitation to the measuring point and test area
The term measuring point is generally defined more broadly than the measuring point, under which the cm-precise coordinates of the measuring sensor or the axis intersections of a theodolite or another measuring instrument are understood. In geodesy, the term survey point is used for well-marketed measuring points .
Temporary measuring points in the bio- and geosciences are referred to as a test area . The name suggests trying, but comes from the term sampling as understood in soil science or geology. Here the measuring point is only set to within a few meters or an average value is determined instead of a single measured value .
Determination of the location of a measuring point
The position is determined
- by the type of parameter to be measured and the boundary conditions to be observed. For example, the outside temperature for a building's heating system is measured in a shady location on the north side, if possible, or for the air quality on a street that is representative of the surroundings
- by a given measuring network configuration, examples of this are the kilometers on motorways or on rivers . In the latter, the flow and water level are measured.
- on machines - depending on their type - fixed by special points, by their position relative to axes, fastenings or openings.
The position of measuring points is usually given in coordinates ( geographic or Gauß-Krüger coordinates ).
