Meta Malikowski

Meta Malikowski (born September 17, 1886 in Danzig , † April 16, 1978 in Ludwigslust ) was a German politician ( Social Democratic Party of the Free City of Danzig ).

Meta Malikowski was a saleswoman after attending primary school and later a housewife from 1906 to 1938 after her marriage. In 1919 she was a co-founder and 1925-1931 chairwoman of the workers' welfare in Gdansk. She was a co-founder and 1924-1931 board member of the Federation of the Physically Disabled. She was a member of the SPD, where she was a member of the state executive committee and the Central Women's Commission in Danzig.

In 1927 she was elected to the Volkstag , the state parliament of the Free City of Danzig , to which she belonged until 1933. During the time of National Socialism she was in " protective custody " in the Stutthof concentration camp several times .

After the Second World War she was expelled from Danzig and fled to Ludwigslust . There she was mayor from 1950 to 1954 and was made an honorary citizen of the city on August 31, 1966 on the occasion of her 80th birthday .
