Meteor (sounding rocket)
Meteor is the name of a series of Polish sounding rockets for studying the high atmosphere, which were built between 1963 and 1974.
Versions
There were a total of 4 types of Meteor, namely the Meteor 1, Meteor 2H, Meteor 2K and Meteor 3.
- The Meteor 1 was a single-stage rocket with a peak height of 40 kilometers, a launch thrust of 14 kN, a diameter of 12 centimeters and a length of 2.5 meters.
- The Meteor 2H was a single-stage rocket with a peak height of 68 kilometers, a launch thrust of 24 kN, a diameter of 35 centimeters and a length of 4.5 meters.
- The Meteor 2K was a two-stage rocket with a top height of 90 kilometers, a launch thrust of 52 kN, a diameter of 35 centimeters and a length of 4.3 meters. It was the largest civil missile developed in Poland.
- The Meteor 3 was a two-stage rocket that was composed of two Meteor-1 rockets. It had a starting thrust of 14 kN, a diameter of 12 centimeters, a length of 4.3 meters and a peak height of 65 kilometers.
commitment
The Meteor missiles were launched at the Łeba and Ustka military training areas on the Baltic coast ; five Meteor 1 units were launched from the Zingst peninsula in the early 1970s .
