The Metersbonwe Group , operating on the market under the Meters / bonwe brand , is one of the largest clothing retailers in the People's Republic of China . The company, which was founded in 1995 by Zhou Chengjian (* 1966) in Wenzhou and primarily offers young fashion in the lower price range, grew rapidly, primarily through franchising , and is now listed on the Shenzhen stock exchange. While the founder made his own designs at the beginning, Metersbonwe now has its collection produced by suppliers. In 2011, Greenpeace criticized their production methods in the Dirty Laundry Report as often environmentally harmful, as their toxic textile chemicals pollute rivers.

At the beginning of 2007 the company had around 1,800 stores in China and employed 5,000 people. In the meantime (2015) there are almost 5000 stores. Metersbonwe has set up a public fashion museum at the company's headquarters in Shanghai.

The group had sales of 9.52 billion yuan in 2012 and sales of 6.62 billion yuan in 2014.

The company's founder is one of the richest Chinese with an estimated fortune of $ 4.1 billion. To this day he is president of the company, in which his daughter now holds significant shares. At the beginning of 2016, the media reported that he was suddenly nowhere to be found.
