The Shenzhen Stock Exchange ( Chin.深圳 交易所, Pinyin Shēnzhèn Jiāoyìsuǒ; Eng. Shenzhen Stock Exchange, SZSE ) is one of the two stock exchanges in the People's Republic of China and was founded in 1990.

After the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange is the second largest in mainland China .

In 2014, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange listed 1,581 companies with a combined market capitalization of USD 3,932 billion . By July 2013, the number of public companies had risen to 1,537. In August 2017, the market capitalization amounted to 3.562 billion US dollars making it the eighth-largest exchange in the world by market capitalization. Over 2000 companies are now listed.

IPOs on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange were discontinued in 2000 and are now only traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. In Shenzhen, a second market similar to NASDAQ was created (ChiNext), which is intended for private and technology companies.

Index and special indexes

The main SSE index was introduced in May 2004. Only a few years later, special indices were added to the listing. The ChiNext Market was founded in October 2009. The OTC market index has been listed since January 2006.
