The Metro-Kino is a cinema at Johannesgasse 4 in Vienna's 1st district, Innere Stadt .

history

The Elysium entertainment venue was located in the building in Johannesgasse from 1840 , and a theater was later established here. Leon Epp ran it as a comedy theater called Komödie during the Nazi regime and reopened the stage as Die Insel after the Second World War , but he had to give up the company again in 1951. The Metro-Kino has been located in the building since 1951 and was owned by Kiba until 1999 . In 2002 it was taken over and renovated by the Filmarchiv Austria , whose main venue it has since served as the Kino Kulturhaus.
