The island has been converted into a metro cinema

The island was a cabaret in Vienna's 1st district, Innere Stadt .

The island was founded in 1937 as a license-free cabaret in the Palais Colloredo-Mansfeld at Parkring 6. Initially, the theater was headed by Leon Epp , who founded the Vienna Ateliertheater in 1932. From 1938 to 1945 the island was closed again. After Epp tried to run a comedy theater called Komödie in Johannesgasse 4 during the National Socialist era , he reopened the stage there immediately after the war with a committed contemporary political program. However, he had to give up the company again in 1951. The metro cinema has been located in the building since then .
