Metro Tango

The Metro Tango (MT) was a NATO command post in the Hunsrück , which was operated by the US armed forces .

task

From 1978 to 1992 European NATO air operations for missiles and aircraft were coordinated and directed from here. After completion of the newly expanded Goßberg, it was supposed to move there in order to also direct the missiles of the newly created Pydna missile base .

Location

At the boundary of the municipalities of Wüschheim and Kappel , directly at the highest point of the Hunsrückhöhenstrasse in the Vorderhunsrück (527 m).

Todays use

After dissolution as a military property, the site will be used by RWE Umwelt AG and then by the current disposal company Remondis as a recycling facility.
