The Metropolitan State University of Denver (former name: Metropolitan State College of Denver , also called Metro State , Metro or MSCD ) is a state university in Denver in the US state of Colorado . The university was founded in 1965 . There are currently around 23,000 students enrolled. Students can obtain an associate degree in a two-year course and a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a four-year course .

The sports teams of the MSCD are the Roadrunners . The college is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference .
