The Kreuzberger Kinderstiftung is a nationwide foundation that advocates educational equality and youth engagement. It supports projects, awards grants and implements its own programs. Between 2004 and 2016, it funded over 500 charitable projects and awarded over 450 grants.

history

The Kreuzberger Kinderstiftung consists of two parts: The non-profit Kreuzberger Kinderstiftung legal foundation under civil law (bR) was established in 2004 by lawyer Peter R. Ackermann in Berlin. In 2014 the Kreuzberg Children's Foundation was founded as a non-profit corporation.

The headquarters of the organization is a listed building on the Landwehr Canal, which was built in 1890 as a service villa for the royal Prussian hydraulic engineering inspector (“lock keeper's house”). In 2001 Peter Ackermann financed the purchase of the house for the State of Berlin. In return, the foundation was given sole usufruct for 66 years. After extensive construction and renovation work, she took over the building and established her permanent seat there.

Foundation purpose

The purpose of the foundation is to promote youth welfare, education and upbringing as well as international understanding. The purpose of the non-profit stock corporation is also to promote charitable causes, welfare, international sentiment, tolerance in all areas of culture and civic engagement in favor of these purposes.
