Peter Rolf Ackermann (born February 12, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer, entrepreneur and founder of the Kreuzberg Children's Foundation . He is a board member of this foundation and the Kreuzberger Kinderstiftung non-profit corporation.

Life

Ackermann went to school in Berlin. In 1955 he received a scholarship for a school year in California. In 1959 he began to study law at the Free University of Berlin . He spent a few semesters in Friborg in Switzerland and in Munich before taking his first state examination in Göttingen. The lawyer time he spent in Berlin, where he followed the Assessorexamen took off.

Between 1964 and 1968 he led seminars for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation on self-organization for young people in Togo , Benin and the Republic of the Congo .

In 1969 he opened a law firm. He has worked in international arbitration in the field of international law. In 1984 he moved with his family to London, where he founded a software company and managed its offices in Europe, the USA and Asia. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he returned to Berlin as a lawyer. He has also worked for a mutual fund and property developer.

From 1966 to 1969 Ackermann was active in the Landesjugendring Berlin , from 1968 as its chairman. In 1968 he led the Berlin delegations to New York and to the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sofia .

In 1973 he was involved in the founding of the Kaubstrasse youth education association in Berlin-Wilmersdorf and was then temporarily its chairman. In 1989 Ackermann co-founded the Alte Feuerwache association, which operates a district center for youth work in the building of the old central fire station in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Between 1992 and 2004 he was a member of the international lawyer association “pro bono”, which advises NGOs and human rights groups. In 2004 Ackermann founded the Kreuzberg Children's Foundation with legal capacity under civil law , which advocates youth engagement and educational justice . He transferred extensive assets to the foundation, including works of art and securities, with which the work of the foundation is mainly financed.

In 2012, Ackermann joined the initiative Appell Vermögensgender for a property levy.

Awards

In 2015 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class, for his long-term commitment to child and youth work.
