aims

The Landesjugendring Berlin is committed to realizing the right of young people to participate in society in a democratic society. Social participation is based on co-determination , self-organization and voluntary work . The work of the State Youth Association is based on these principles.

  • Self-organization is the central structural feature of youth association work. Children and young people come together in youth associations and shape them. In youth associations and rings they express and represent the concerns and interests of young people.
  • Co-determination stands for the right of children and young people to help shape all issues that concern and interest them. Participation is an expression of the citizenship status of children and young people. It takes children and young people seriously as members of society with equal rights and does not reduce them to "unfinished objects" that have to be "integrated" into society.

The participation and self-organization of children and adolescents often leads to the assumption of responsibility or voluntary commitment. In youth associations, young people combine voluntary work with representing their interests. Commitment and representation of interests are constitutive of our society, they establish cohesion and shape society.

The State Youth Association and its members are responsible for:

  • sustainable child and youth work in the state of Berlin
