Youth network Lambda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lambda youth network is a nationwide youth association for lesbian , gay , bisexual , asexual , trans * , non-binary , inter * and queer young people in Germany.

Emergence

The Lambda youth network was founded in March 1990 shortly before the first free Volkskammer elections in the GDR in Berlin from an initiative that had existed since November 1989 with the aim of creating the later Democratic Youth Association (DJB) as representatives of young lesbians and gays and their get-togethers at the central youth round table and groups to take part, since at this point in time neither in the GDR nor in West Germany was a youth association explicitly looking after the interests of gay, lesbian and bisexual young people. After reunification, the Lambda youth network's sphere of activity expanded across the whole of Germany.

deals

The offers of the Lambda youth network include, in addition to the well-known offers from youth associations such as national and international youth encounters, camps , youth groups , youth centers and youth education, in particular advisory projects that address the specific situation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, transident, non-binary, intersex and queer young people are oriented. Many regional associations offer training courses on how to achieve JuLeiCa and have educational projects for schools and / or specialists. In addition, various media projects are operated:

  • lambda queercast is a podcast from Lambda Mitteldeutschland on general queer topics.
  • #LambdaTalk is a podcast by Lambda Bayern about youth work and queer topics.
  • Lambda Kaffeeklatsch is a podcast from Lambda Bayern, which is purely for entertainment.
  • In the YouTube project From A to Queer , queer terms are explained as easily as possible.

As further projects, multiplier training courses are offered in which young people are trained to sensitize heterosexual and / or cis-gender young people to LGBTIQ issues. In 2013, for example, all trainees at Deutsche Post were trained in the first year of their apprenticeship on the topic of diversity .

consultation

In cooperation with the regional association Lambda: bb, the federal association offers peer-to-peer e-mail and chat advice under the name “In & Out”. Here queer adolescents and young adults are trained to do advisory work and, together with qualified specialists in Berlin, adolescents who are homosexual, bisexual, asexual, trans *, inter, non-binary, queer or are still unsure can make an appointment at comingout.de make z. B. on the topics of trans * young people, sex, multiple discrimination, the coming-out of parents / relatives of queer young people.

There used to be the advice website anders.fremd (later migra-friends ) for young people with a migration background in Bavaria.

organization

Today, in addition to the federal association, the following regional associations exist:

The members are recorded centrally by the office of the Federal Association in Erfurt . If a young person has become a member of the federal association, he also becomes a member of the regional association in whose catchment area he lives (see above). In the federal states in which there is no regional association, the federal association is responsible.

In addition to natural persons (individual members), members of the Lambda youth network can also become associations of persons (i.e. clubs) who are active in youth work, provided they do not work contrary to the goals of the youth network, or companies that support the youth network in its work by means of a sponsoring membership want. Individual members are accepted between the ages of 14 and 26. Beyond this age, the status changes from an individual member to that of a sustaining member, provided that membership is not terminated by leaving. The federal office in Erfurt provides information.

The youth network is a founding member of the Working Group New Democratic Youth Associations (ANDJ), which has been a member since 1991 and an affiliate association in the German Federal Youth Association (DBJR) since 1993 . The Lambda youth network has been an independent association in the DBJR since 2011.
