Ivo Perilli (born April 10, 1902 in Rome , † November 24, 1994 there ) was an Italian screenwriter and director .

Life

After attending a technical institute and graduating in architecture, Perilli worked for the theater companies Podrecca and Picasso and also worked as a poster painter. In 1931 he returned to film as an assistant director and set designer through Mario Camerini , with whom he remained professionally connected throughout his life, where he made his debut as a director with Ragazzo in 1933 . His debut film is considered lost; the first material working with elements of neorealism was destroyed by Mussolini's party, except for one copy that remained at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . This last one was also later destroyed by the German occupiers. It wasn't until the 1940s that he should direct two more films. From 1935 he was active as a hard-working screenwriter; in this capacity he wrote numerous films up until the 1970s. Perilli also worked for radio and later the RAI .
