Johanniter youth

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Johanniter-Jugend (JJ) has been the youth association in the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe eV (JUH) in Germany since 1979 . The JJ is a member of the Association of Protestant Youth in Germany

task

The JJ is an association that operates independently of the JUH in terms of content and offers around 12,000 children and young people (as of 2014) offers for recreational activities and "promoting the individual development of young people and [...] education to respect other people" :

  • Classic youth work in youth groups through joint, age-appropriate projects in the social and playful area
  • Implementation of leisure time up to the federal level (federal Pentecostal camp)
  • First aid training
  • School medical service
  • Participation in the area of the JUH

The JJ is regularly involved in the Protestant church convention in the areas of childcare and help for people with disabilities or, for example, carries out campaigns to check and update vehicle first- aid kits.

Alignment

The JUH follows a Christian set of values, but the children and young people “can participate in the fulfillment of the tasks of the JJ regardless of creed , race and nationality , if they take into account the principles of tolerance , respect and love for their neighbor . “As with the adult association, the focus is on serving one's neighbor.

structure

The structure of the JJ largely follows the structure of the JUH, so there are state associations and district or regional associations under the federal association.

In the regional associations there are usually several youth groups roughly according to age groups (6–11 years, 12–15 years,> 16 years). Between the ages of 16 and 18, the members often switch to the adult association, become youth group leaders themselves or take on elected positions in management functions.

Due to the different “strengths” of the JUH regional associations, there are not active youth groups in every regional association. However, since the JJ is organizationally integrated into the JUH, the next suitable youth group can be requested from each JUH office.

The work takes place on a voluntary basis, only in the federal office there are five full-time employees as well as one or more full-time state youth department heads in the state associations. Full-time employees have no voting rights in the Johanniter Youth committees, only the right to speak and propose.

Strategic decisions are made by the Federal Youth Assembly (BJV). The representatives authorized by the BJV, the Federal Youth Management, represent the interests of the Johanniter-Jugend vis-à-vis the JUH at the federal level, vis-à-vis other youth associations, the AEJ and other bodies and institutions. The federal youth leadership, elected for two years since March 2019, currently consists of the two federal youth leaders Moritz Röver and Julia von Frantzki, as well as the two deputies Markus Walper and Riccarda Sonnek.

In Austria there are active youth groups in the Vienna area.
