The Metropolitan Transportation Authority ( MTA ) is a state-owned transportation company in the US state of New York .

The public transport network covers a supply area of ​​13,000 square kilometers with a population of 14.6 million people. The MTA maintains one of the largest metro networks in the world. Most metro lines and many MTA bus lines run daily and all year round without a nightly break, a total of 341 rail, underground and bus lines have been set up. The MTA owns around 8,590 railway and metro cars to operate these lines and has the world's largest fleet of metro cars.
