Meyers Orts- und Verkehrslexikon, 6th edition 1935

Meyer's Orts- und Verkehrslexikon des Deutschen Reiches is the short title of a reference work that was published in at least six editions by the Bibliographisches Institut in Leipzig .

The reference work gives brief information about almost every place of residence in the German Reich . Even individual mills, brickworks and groups of houses were recorded, as well as information on communities in which central government and church registers are located.

The 5th edition from 1912 (Leipzig, Vienna ) can be viewed on microfilm at the research centers of the Mormon Archives ( Utah , USA) and has been digitized and published on the Internet.

The 6th and final edition appeared in 1935. It was completely revised and took account of the changes in the area as a result of the First World War . This includes all independent municipalities of the former German Reich, all railway stations and a list of the non-independent residential areas of the German Reich, the Free City of Danzig and the Memel area . There is also an overview map of the German Empire in six-color print, ten four- to five-color city maps and a table of all local courts with the competent regional courts . In this edition there is also a compilation of the affiliation of the smaller to the larger administrative districts and an overview of the airports and air traffic locations.
