Micali painter
Micali painter is the emergency name of an Etruscan black-figure vase painter who lived around 530–500 BC. Was active in Vulci .
He mainly painted winged mythical beings such as sirens , sphinxes or pegasoi , as well as ornaments. The image motifs mainly represent battle scenes, his characters are considered expressive in their gestures. His early ornamental works were influenced by Ionic vase painting , later the influence from Attic vase painting predominated . The workshop of the Micali painter kept works up to the beginning of the 5th century BC. Attributed to BC, which, however, cannot tie in with their master in the artistic level.
The painter is named after the Italian archaeologist Giuseppe Micali , who was the first to put together some of the painter's vessels.
