Michael Angele

Michael Angele (* 1964 in Aarberg , Canton of Bern ) is a Swiss journalist and author .

Life

Angele moved to Berlin in 1989 , where he studied general and comparative literature at the Peter Szondi Institute . In 1999 he received his doctorate with a thesis on conspiracy theories in German literature of the 1920s. He wrote for the Berlin pages of the FAZ and was a lecturer in modern German literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From January 2007 he held office for half a year as part of a double-headed editor-in-chief of the Netzeitung , where he previously worked as an editor. Since March 2009 he has been working for the weekly newspaper der Freitag , where he initially headed the culture and everyday life departments. He became deputy editor-in-chief in January 2015 and editor-in-chief in September 2017. He has been working as an editor since March 2020.

In 2018 he published a highly acclaimed book portrait about the journalist Frank Schirrmacher .
