Michael Böwer

Michael Böwer (born April 20, 1972 in Rinteln ) is a German social worker and university professor . He is a professor at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia , Paderborn Department.

Life

Böwer studied after a professional training as an administrative clerk, technical college degree and community service from the winter semester 1995/1996 at the University of Applied Sciences Hildesheim / Holzminden (today University of Hildesheim / Holzminden / Göttingen ) social work and social education and graduated in 2000 as a state-recognized diploma social worker / diploma Social pedagogue. In parallel to the year of recognition in an institution for people with disabilities, he studied social and organizational pedagogy at the University of Hildesheim , which he completed as a qualified pedagogue in the summer semester of 2003. At the same time and until 2010 he worked as a social pedagogue at Caritas Erziehungshilfe Bremen gGmbH and was a lecturer in the social affairs department of the University of Bremen . As a scholarship holder of the Hans Böckler Foundation , Böwer did his doctorate in 2011 at the Faculty I Educational and Social Sciences of the University of Hildesheim with an empirical thesis on the practice of child protection in German youth welfare offices and has since been professor for theories and concepts of social work with a focus on child protection and youth welfare / educational assistance at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia, Paderborn department.

Since the winter semester 2016/2017 he has been dean of the social affairs department at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia. He teaches and researches the history of social work, in particular child and youth welfare, theories of social work, organizational pedagogy , organizations, child protection, youth welfare and systemic counseling.
