Michael Bidwill (born December 6, 1964 in St. Louis ) is an American entrepreneur. He has been chairman and owner of the NFL franchise Arizona Cardinals since the death of his father, Bill Bidwill on October 2, 2019 .

Life

Michael Bidwill is the second oldest of the five children of William Bidwill and his wife Nancy. He attended Georgetown Prep and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Saint Louis University . He then studied at the Law Faculty of the Catholic University , where he obtained his Masters in 1990.

From 1990 he worked as a prosecutor in Arizona. During this time he worked in the violent crime department in the Arizona Indian Reservations. In the spring of 1996 he joined Bob Dole's campaign team .

In November 1996, he was named vice president and legal advisor to his father's Arizona Cardinals football franchise. In 2007 he became president, helping his father lead the team. As a result, the team was realigned. He was also the driving force behind the construction of the State Farm Stadium , home of the Cardinals.

After his father's death, he became the administrator and chairman of the franchise.

In addition to his work for the Arizona Cardinals, he is active in economic development in the Phoenix area . Among other things, he has been Chairman of Greater Phoenix Leadership, an association of leading entrepreneurs and politicians, since 2018. From 2008 to 2010 he was Chairman of the Phoenix Business Council and is a member of the governing body of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.

In July 2018, he supported the campaign to elect Brett Kavanaugh , a former classmate, to the Supreme Court. This was controversial because he used the franchise's website and social media channels for it.

In July 2020 he fell ill with Covid-19 and was briefly hospitalized for treatment.
