Michael Bohmeyer

Michael Bohmeyer (born October 1, 1984 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin ) is a German entrepreneur, bestselling author and activist for the unconditional basic income . In 2014 he founded the association Mein Grundeinkommen .

Life and work

Michael Bohmeyer founded various companies together with others: the online sign trade Bohmeyer & Schuster GmbH, the social network want2do AG, the technology startup admineo UG. In the summer of 2014, he founded the Mein Grundeinkommen association and, in 2015, participated in the establishment of the Sanctions-Free Association , which offers recipients of unemployment benefit II legal and financial help. Together with Claudia Cornelsen , Michael Bohmeyer wrote the book “What would you do?”, Which appeared in January 2019.

Bohmeyer is a regular speaker at conferences on the topics of social entrepreneurship, new forms of organization and new work, as well as digital political campaigning.

Michael Bohmeyer has a daughter and lives in Berlin.

Basic income

As a passive co-owner of the online sign trade Bohmeyer & Schuster since 2014, Michael Bohmeyer receives an annual profit distribution. He felt this income without performance as “a kind of unconditional basic income ”. Inspired by this experience, he founded the association Mein Grundeinkommen in July 2014. The NGO uses crowdfunding to collect money to be raffled off as a one-year basic income of 1,000 euros per month among the people registered on the website. So far, over 300 people have gained a one-year basic income.

In 2018 the documentary Free Lunch Society - Come Come Basic Income was released, u. a. with Michael Bohmeyer as initiator and founder of Mein Grundeinkommen.

Michael Bohmeyer and Claudia Cornelsen examine the winners' experiences and the socio-psychological effect of unconditionality in the book "Wasdst du ich?" Immediately after publication, the book rose to number 3 on the Spiegel bestseller list.
