Michael Chance , CBE (born March 7, 1955 in Penn, Buckinghamshire ) is a British opera singer ( countertenor ).

Life

He studied at King's College , Cambridge (1974–1977), then with Rupert Bruce-Lockhart . He started a career as a concert singer early on. When Buxton Festival in 1984 he began to work as an opera singer.

His musical spectrum covers a wide repertoire. Guest appearances at international festivals made him known to a larger audience. His ability prompted several composers ( Tan Dun and others) to write pieces of music especially for Michael Chance's voice.
