biography

Michael Fesenmeier was born in the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1825. As a teenager he learned the craft of brewing. At the age of 24 he emigrated to the USA and settled in Huntington in the state of West Virginia . Here he ran a farm with a small brewery with his wife. As the demand for Fesenmeiers beer grew, he decided in 1877, a new brewery in Lindner Ville near the town of Cumberland in the state of Maryland to open.

A few years later, Fesenmeier's sons Michael, John and Andrew took over the management of the brewery. Fesenmeier himself concentrated on his farm again with his fourth son George.
