Michael Geist
Michael Allen Geist (born July 11, 1968 ) is a Canadian legal scholar, author and blogger .
The professor of e-commerce and internet law at the University of Ottawa is a columnist for various newspapers and the like. a. the Vancouver Sun , Toronto Star, and Ottawa Citizen . Michael Geist is a critic of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).
Geist served on the board of directors of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority , which maintained the .ca namespace, for six years and is currently active for the Open Society Institute . In 2008 he received the Pioneer Award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation .
