Cornel Borsos

Cornel Borsos (born April 4, 1962 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a former German table tennis player . He was three times German champion.

Career

Borsos began his career at the TG Würzburg club. He later moved to Erlangen (1978–1980), then to TTC Heusenstamm in the Bundesliga . In 1983 he joined Borussia Düsseldorf .

As a teenager, Borsos took second place in the top 12 boys' national ranking tournament in 1979. In 1981 he won the Junior TOP12.

At the national German championships he won the title in mixed with Andrea Mann in 1984 and in doubles with Ralf Wosik in 1985 and 1986 . He reached the semi-finals in doubles in 1984 and 1988 with Ralf Wosik and 1989 and 1990 with Hans-Joachim Nolten . In 1985 he finished in the national ranking tournament in second place. In the 1985/86 and 1987/88 seasons he was German team champion with Borussia Düsseldorf.

Borsos has played at least three international matches. In January 1985 he won two singles in a 3: 3 against China in Dautphetal. He was nominated again for the fight against China on April 13, 1987 in Planegg, which was lost 4-1. In the 5-0 win over France in February 1988, he won against Didier Mommessin . He was denied further international assignments in view of the competition from Jörg Roßkopf , Steffen Fetzner and Peter Franz .

In 1989 he left Borussia Düsseldorf for TSV Milbertshofen , where he stayed until 1992. The other club stations were Würzburger Kickers (1992-1995), Kareth-Lappersdorf (since 1995), Müller Würzburger Hofbräu (at least since 2005 to 2008) and TTC Kist / Würzburg (since 2008).

In the German rankings, Borsos came in fifth.

Since the end of his active career, he has been working as an association trainer for the Bavarian table tennis association BTTV .

Private

Borsos married in 1984. He has two daughters, Carina and Annika, who play table tennis successfully in the region. Annika appeared in the 2007/08 season with SpVgg / DJK Wolframs-Eschenbach in the 2nd Bundesliga. Cornel Borsos ran a sports shop in Würzburg until 2017.
