Michael Hartung

Michael Hartung , also Michielle Harton (* before 1593, † after 1640) was an important lute maker who worked in Padua , Roßhaupten and Venice .

Life

Michael Hartung came from Tiefenbruck, the home of the Tieffenbrucker family . He spent large parts of his life in Bologna, where he ran a workshop for making instruments. The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and the Germanisches Nationalmuseum have preserved Hartung lutes.

Hartung was Wendelin Tieffenbrucker's son-in-law (before 1551 – after 1611).
