Michael Hegewald

Michael Hegewald (born November 28, 1955 in Berlin ) is a German painter and graphic artist who is known for his oil paintings of coasts, ports and ships.

His works can be found in the Märkisches Museum and in the collection of the Berlinische Galerie , the art collection of the DGB, the art collection of the Humboldt University in Berlin, the rbb collection, as well as in museums in Europe and overseas.

Hegewald attended evening classes at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art from 1972 to 1974 and passed his Abitur in 1974. He then went on to train as a type and graphic painter for two years. In 1978 he studied at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art with Dietrich Noßky and Dieter Goltzsche , which he graduated with a diploma in 1983.

Since 1986, Hegewald has been leading art courses at various institutions in Berlin, including the Podewils'schen Palais and adult education centers. From 1993 to 1996 he received teaching assignments for basic studies at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art, and from 1997 to 2004 he was a lecturer at the BEST-Sabel Vocational School for Design. In 1994 Michael Hegewald founded the Kunsthaus eV and has been its elected board member ever since. In 1995 he received a working grant from the Kulturfonds im Haus Lukas, Ahrenshoop .
