Michael Künast (born February 14, 1961 in Neuenbürg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In 1966, Künast began playing football in the youth department of FV Neuenbürg. He later moved to 1. FC Birkenfeld before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in 1978 . In four years in the Bundesliga with Eintracht, he made twenty-two league appearances. In 1980 it won the UEFA Cup, in 1981 the DFB Cup, and was never used in either competition. In 1983 Künast moved on to Karlsruher SC in the second division, in 1984 he was promoted to the Bundesliga. At KSC Künast played until the end of 1987, before he played the second half of the season at SV Darmstadt 98 . At the beginning of the 1989 season he played in Austria, for FK Austria Vienna . Künast was coach Gustl Starek's dream player . After Starek was no longer a coach at Austria, Künast was awarded to SV Stockerau in spring 1989 and to Kremser SC in spring 1990 . Künast still played for Grazer AK , Austria Klagenfurt , SCR Altach , SCR Altach and VfR Pforzheim before ending his career at FC Neureut in 1998 as a player-coach. He has been a coach at SV Königsbach since the 2015/16 season.

Private

Künast completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant.
