Michael Kopzog (born June 28, 1960 in Gelsenkirchen-Erle ) is a former German boxer .

Michael Kopzog joined the “Gelsenkirchen-Erle 1949” boxing club at the age of 11 and became German champion for the first time at the age of 15. After finishing school, Kopzog trained as a plumber . In 1978 he reached second place at the European Light Welterweight Championships .

At the 57th German Boxing Championships he received the honorary award as the best technician and was German light welterweight champion in November 1979 after winning points over Michajah Quaisser. 1979 Kopzog was accepted into the national team and completed 30 fights there. He was able to win eight gold medals in international tournaments. In 1980 he won the bronze medal at the tournament in Ústí nad Labem ( CSSR ), won the international match against Bulgaria in the light welterweight over Ganev on points and became German light welterweight champion in November after a point victory over Werner Schäfer.

Before the end of his career, he played five professional fights, in which he won without exception. In 1991 he completed a preliminary fight for a fight by Axel Schulz in Düsseldorf . After his active career, Kopzog became a trainer at BC Erle and trained today's professional boxers Manuel Charr and Francesco Pianeta . Today he works as a trainer in Gelsenkirchen.
