Michael Lösel (* 1957 in Weiden in der Oberpfalz ) is a German draftsman, guitarist, composer, songwriter, chansonnier, columnist, author, presenter, actor and publisher.

Professional background

After graduating from high school in 1977, Lösel studied German, social studies and history at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen for the teaching post at grammar school and graduated with a Magister Artium in German, sociology and political science. The subject of his master's thesis was Jean Paul's novel. From 1984 to 1987 he was a research assistant at the Center for Industrial Culture in Nuremberg under the direction of Klaus-Jürgen Sembach, where he was busy building up the collection and for which he wrote articles on cultural history.

For what is now the Museum of Industrial Culture under the aegis of Hermann Glaser , Lösel was largely responsible for the construction of the gypsum mill Neubleiche on Museum Street in the former Tafelhalle. He also worked as a freelancer at the Goethe-Institut Munich and Radio 8 in Ansbach.

In 1991 he trained as a technical writer; he has been self-employed since 1994. He lives in Nuremberg.

Artistic career

1977–1994 Lösel was a member of the folk group “Wunderhorn”, which set poems from the period between the 1789 and 1848 revolutions to music. Since 1986 he has been head of the literary group “former. Bleichstraße ”, since 1997 he has been editing“ Poesie an der Pegnitz ”, the literary page of the Pegnitz newspaper, and is the editor of the paperback series Faltung (Fahner Verlag, Lauf). Since 2000, corresponding anthologies have been published under the title “Pegnitzrauschen”, which are accompanied by readings. He also headed the writing workshop “Poesie an der Pegnitz” from 2006–2008, he is a member of the “Literature Combine”, initiator and moderator of the “Textarena” and founder and director of the “Muse [e] n readings project”, which has since become "Poetic Theater" developed. He also remains loyal to the music, be it through appearances at the Bardentreffen and other festivals in the Franconian region, through his own solo programs with spoken ballads to guitar music or through the duo "wort | bruch". He is a member of the Pegnese Flower Order.
