Michael L. Corbat (born May 2, 1960 in Bristol , Connecticut ) is an American manager and currently CEO of Citigroup .

Life

Corbat graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, where he also played offensive guard for the university's football team. Corbat has worked at Citigroup or its predecessor companies throughout his career, starting with Salomon Brothers . He was also head of Citi's Global Corporate Bank and Global Commercial Bank and CEO of Citi's Global Wealth Management (comprised of Smith Barney and Citi Private Bank ). As CEO of Citi Holdings, he was responsible for the divestment of a portfolio of non-core businesses and assets following the 2008 financial crisis and for Citi's participation in the Troubled Asset Relief program . He later was CEO for Europe, Middle East and Africa ( EMEA ), where he led all Citi operations in the region. In October 2012, Mike Corbat was named CEO of Citigroup following the resignation of Vikram Pandit . In 2017, his compensation was $ 23 million.

Private

Corbat is married and has two children.
