Michael Lassel (born December 19, 1948 in Giuleşti , Transylvania , Romania ) is a freelance painter in the field of trompe-l'œil .

Life

Lassel studied painting from 1968 to 1972 at the Art Academy in Bucharest ; after that he worked as an art teacher at the German grammar school in Schäßburg .
In 1986 he moved with his family to Germany, where he has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Fürth , Franconia since then.

Michael Lassel first began to paint abstractly in Romania and then turned to surrealism. Since 1989 he has been one of the painters of the Trompe-l'œil / Réalité, also known as Trompe-l'œil de chevalet, a movement that was founded in France in 1955 as a modern variant of the Trompe-l'œil. He paints still lifes in the style of the old masters . Michael Lassel's pictures have already been shown in several exhibitions around the world, especially in Germany but also in Paris.
