Michael Logan (bassist)

Michael Logan (* approx. 1949) is an American jazz bassist.

Logan, who is from Chicago, initially played the guitar. In 1969 he switched to the bass guitar and in the mid-1970s to the double bass . He studied with Rufus Reid and Muhal Richard Abrams , on whose album Blues Forever ( Black Saint , 1982) he participated. Throughout his career he has also worked with the Northside Symphony Orchestra, Clifford Jordan , John Hicks , John Stubblefield , Walter Bishop Jr. and Geri Allen . From the 1990s he was a member of Kalaparusha's trio and quartet Maurice McIntyre , on whose albums Dream Of ( CIMP , 1998) and Extremes (2007) he can be heard. In 1995 he released the album Night Out on Muse Records under his own name , on which Benny Green , Houston Person , Joe Ford and Cecil Brooks III participated.

The bassist should not be confused with the keyboardist of the same name, who u. a. worked with Ramsey Lewis .
