Cecil Brooks III
Cecil Brooks III (born August 16, 1961 ) is an American jazz drummer and composer.
The son of the drummer Cecil Brooks II and grandson of the concert pianist Cecil Brooks I got to know the music of Philly Joe Jones and Art Blakey , who frequented his parents' house, as a child . In the late 1980s he worked a. a. with Greg Osby , Geri Allen and Lonnie Plaxico . In 1989 his first album, The Collective, was released as a band leader, which was followed by others in quick succession. He also works as a composer and music publisher and runs a jazz club in West Orange / New Jersey .
