Michael Murach
Michael "Michel" Murach (born February 1, 1911 in the Gelsenkirchen district of Schalke ; † August 16, 1941 in Dubrowka , Leningrad Oblast ) was a German amateur welterweight boxer , Olympic silver medalist from 1936 and European champion in 1937.
The right-wing Michael Murach boxed for FC Schalke 04 . At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, he was defeated in the finals by the Finn Sten Suvio . A year later he was European champion in Milan ahead of Imre Mádin from Hungary and Oscar Agren from Sweden . In 1937 he appeared again at the European Championships , but was eliminated in the first fight against Robert Thomas, England . Between 1935 and 1940 Murach was five times German welterweight champion.
