Michael Newton's therapeutic method was based on psychological counseling and behavior modification and was intended to help people come into contact with their soul or their higher self in order to find a solution to mostly profound problems or a new direction in life. In his regressions, he focused in particular on the life of his patients in a hypothetically assumed spiritual world between lives and their spiritual development. During his more than 30 years of practice in para-scientific studies he had drawn up a so-called "map" of the spiritual world in which we should exist after death and before a new life. In his literature Michael Newton described his patients' experiences and life in the spiritual world.

In addition to working in his private practice in Los Angeles, he was a long-time lecturer at higher education institutions. In numerous radio and television broadcasts he brought his personal assumptions about an immortal soul and the spiritual world closer to the public.

He was considered a pioneer in researching the mysteries of life after death . After Michael Newton retired, he trained international hypnotherapists in his regression technique through the institute he founded.

The Michael Newton Institute for Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy

The Society for Spiritual Regression (SSR) was founded in 2002 and renamed The Michael Newton Institute for Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy (TNI) in 2006 . The Newton Institute trains experienced hypnotherapists in its regression technique. Michael Newton's regression therapies are offered in many countries.
