Michael Ristow (conservationist)
Michael Ristow is a German botanist and entomologist . Its botanical author abbreviation is " Ristow ".
From 1989 to 2000 Ristow worked as a freelance expert in the field of nature conservation; He was involved in the creation of Red Lists of endangered plants and animals, biotope and vegetation mapping and studies of changes in vegetation when the groundwater level subsided; he also prepared protection reports. Since 2001 he has been a technical assistant at the Chair of Vegetation Ecology and Nature Conservation at the University of Potsdam , where he is responsible for field work on flora and fauna in the Vegetation Ecology and Nature Conservation group.
Ristow deals with the taxonomy and systematics of so-called “critical plant groups”, such as roses ( Rosa ) and willows ( Salix ). He is involved in the creation of a flora in his hometown Berlin, as well as in the creation of distribution atlases on the flora of Germany. Ristow worked as a technical advisor for the German edition of Botanica , published in 2003 .
Ristow was involved in the first description of the sweet grass Scolochloa marchica .
