Michael Schmidt (born August 6, 1962 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player.

Career

Michael Schmidt played at SC Charlottenburg before moving to Hamburger SV in 1982 . There he was a member of the successful Hamburg team in the 1980s. Schmidt was considered a hopeful talent, but could not make the breakthrough. The competition from the established players was too great, so that he only played one league and one DFB Cup. In 1983 Schmidt left HSV and went to Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin . With the Berliners he made promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga the following year. In 1986 they even managed to get promoted to the 1st Bundesliga, but the team was only able to stay there for one season.

Michael Schmidt stayed with Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin until 1992, then moved to BSV Stahl Brandenburg for a year and then ended his active career with the Reinickendorfer Füchsen .
