Michael Staiger

Michael Staiger (* 1973 ) is a German literary scholar and didactician.

Staiger first studied German, music and Catholic theology as a teacher at the Freiburg University of Education , and later did a degree in educational science (adult education) and communication studies. In 2005 Staiger received his doctorate in Freiburg with a thesis on German didactics as media culture didactics. From 2005 to 2017 he was academic advisor and senior advisor at the Institute for German Language and Literature at the Freiburg University of Education . In 2017 he was appointed to a professorship for modern German literature and its didactics at the University of Cologne .

Staiger's main research areas are film analysis and film didactics, intermediality and the narratology of picture books .
