Michael Tüxen (* 1966 ) is a German mathematician and university professor .

Life

Tüxen studied mathematics, theoretical physics and computer science at the Georg-August University of Göttingen until 1993. He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Göttingen at the Collaborative Research Center 170 (geometry and analysis) until 1995 , was a member of a DFG research project in 1996 and was part of the In the same year Hans Grauert presented his dissertation on real spaces (title: “Transfer of complex analytical results to the real case”).

In 1997 he went to Siemens in Munich, where he worked as a research engineer in the system development department on the development of telecommunication systems. He focused on performance analysis and the design of protocols. He was also involved in the development of standards at ITU , ETSI and the IETF .

Research and Teaching

He has been a professor at Münster University of Applied Sciences since 2003 . He teaches and researches in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the areas of network programming, IP networks and protocols, as well as compiler construction . Tüxen is also head of the network programming laboratory there. His specialty is the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), in particular performance, implementation, extensions and the application for signal transport over IP networks (SIGTRAN), as well as fault-tolerant communication. Tüxen was and is intensively involved in the SCTP development.
