Michael Thamm

Michael Thamm (born April 28, 1963 in Dresden ) is a German business economist and has been CEO of the Italian cruise company Costa Crociere since July 1, 2012 .

Career

Thamm studied business administration with a focus on shipping. In 1985 he started his career with the Deutsche Seereederei . After holding various positions there, he switched to the cruise industry in 1993 and, as Senior Vice President Operations, was responsible for the establishment and development of AIDA Cruises . From June 2004 onwards he headed this company. He has been CEO of Costa Crociere since July 1, 2012, so he is still responsible for the subsidiaries AIDA Cruises and Ibero Cruises and since January 2017 he has been CEO of Asia Carnival.

Thamm is also a member of the Executive Committee of the European Cruise Council , an association that represents the interests of European cruise lines.
