Mikhail Jefimowitsch Schwydkoi
Michail Jefimowitsch Schwydkoi ( Russian Михаи́л Ефи́мович Швыдко́й ; born September 5, 1948 in Kant , Kyrgyz SSR ) is a Russian art scholar and politician.
Career
After receiving his doctorate in art studies in 1992, he worked as a cultural journalist, specialist author and lecturer. From 1993 to 1997 Schwydkoi was Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation , then from 1998 to 2000 - Chairman of the VGTRK Broadcasting Company. From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the cabinet of Mikhail Kasyanov as Minister of Culture, then until 2008 he was head of the Federal Agency for Culture and Film of the Russian Federation. Since 2008 he has been the President of the Russian Federation's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation. Schwydkoi is the presenter of many TV programs on Russian television.
