Michel Velser

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michel Velser (* in the 14th century; † unknown) is the author of a translation of Jean de Mandeville's travelogue into German. A continental version of 'Reisen' probably served as a template. In addition to this, there is another German translation, it comes from Otto von Diemeringen . Velser is South Tyrolean , probably from the family of the Lords of Vels , accordingly there are linguistic peculiarities in his translation. It can be documented in 1372, the translation was probably drafted before 1393. Exact dates of life are not known.
