Michel Villey (born April 4, 1914 in  Caen ; died July 24, 1988 ) was a French legal philosopher and legal historian who taught at the University of Strasbourg and later at the University of Paris . As a critic of contemporary law, Villey advocated a return to an Aristotelian legal thought. He gained notoriety in this context, among other things, through his criticism of the modern concept of human rights. In particular through his lively teaching activity, Villey exerted a significant influence on an entire generation of French legal philosophers and historians, such as Yann Thomas , Stéphane Rials and Chantal Delsol .
