Michelle Steinbeck
Michelle Steinbeck (* 1990 in Lenzburg ) is a Swiss writer .
Life
Steinbeck grew up in Zurich and studied literary writing at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel . She works as an editor for the factory newspaper and organizer. She published her first own prose, poetry and scenes in anthologies, booklets, on the radio and on theater stages. She was also a member of the Babelsprech authors' forum . She has been a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland since 2016 . She is also a columnist at WOZ .
2016 appeared in Lenos Verlag with My father was a man on land and in the water a whale her first novel, with whom she is on the longlist of the German Book Prize and shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize succeeded the controversial with critics discussions triggered. The novel was published in the English translation by Jen Calleja in 2018 by Darf Publishers in London and in 2019 in Italian by Tunué in Latina .
Steinbeck lives in Basel and Zurich. In 2017/18 she was laureate of the Istituto Svizzero di Roma .
