Michiko Nakatani

Michiko Nakatani ( Japanese 中 谷 ミ チ コ , Nakatani Michiko ; * 1981 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese artist.

Vita

Michiko Nakatani was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1981. From 2001 to 2005 she studied sculpture at the Tama Art School in Tokyo in Japan. In 2005 she came to Germany and in 2006 began studying at the Dresden University of Fine Arts . In 2010 she completed her main studies with Martin Honert with a diploma, from 2012 to 2014 she studied with him as a master class student .

The sculptor Michiko Nakatani mainly creates negative reliefs in plaster, which are painted in color and filled with synthetic resin. Her repertoire also includes sculptures that are made of different materials, often plaster of paris or wood. She often puts her works together in installations that are completed with pencil drawings on large wall surfaces. She uses pencil and watercolor on paper. Her works show people, birds, boats or trees. They address the forlornness as well as the security of the individual as a whole.
