Microsoft Intune (formerly: Microsoft Windows Intune ) is software for cloud computing from Microsoft . It is used to manage PCs and mobile devices via the Internet and was introduced in 2011.

function

Intune is part of the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) and enables an administrator to manage end devices with Windows operating systems via a web browser, for example to perform virus scans or install updates . These operations are done through a web browser compatible with Silverlight 3.0 . The administrator must also have registered with Microsoft with a Microsoft account . Access to the connected computers is encrypted. Intune includes a component that automatically records the health of all serviced PCs. The manufacturer specifies the network size with a maximum of 500 computers. The distribution takes place via a subscription system: There are monthly costs for each managed user. A maximum of five devices can be activated per user.

migration

On November 4, 2019, Microsoft announced the Microsoft Endpoint Manager , consisting of a variety of management solutions, during Microsoft Ignite in Orlando 2019 . The new management system is to be continuously expanded with new functions based on the currently existing ConfigMgr and Microsoft Intune. In addition, Microsoft has announced that it will change the license model. Microsoft Intune licenses should offer the possibility to use the existing ConfigMgr without purchasing new licenses.

As part of Update 1910, released on December 4, 2019 for the ConfigMgr, the client has already been renamed to Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
